The Drop: Week of July 27, 2026
This week: Master Chief finally lands on a PlayStation for the first time in franchise history, Diablo creator's company publishes a dark fantasy extraction game, and a Melbourne developer delivers a puzzle game built as a love letter to her grandmother.

Welcome to The Drop, Level Up Times' weekly release calendar where we wade through the coming week in gaming to help you decide what's worth checking out.
If last week picked up the tempo in videogame releases, this week appears to keep the pace. Master Chief leads the charge, Diablo's creator publishes a dark extraction game, and a local chicken needs your help solving crosswords.

What's Catching our Eye

Halo: Campaign Evolved
Wednesday, July 29 - PC, PS5, Xbox Series (Early Access 24 July)
This is it: Halo's big test to see if a facelift and a behind-the-scenes upgrade to Unreal Engine will help usher the franchise into a new era. Early reviews seem to be mixed to positive on this one, with reviews praising the look and feel of the remake, while also critical of its performance and bugs which come part and parcel with the engine its built on.
Xbox is saying they need to focus on their established franchises like Halo as part of its big reset, but will a remake of a 25-year-old shooter get everything moving in the right direction? Let's find out. Naturally, Campaign Evolved is out on Game Pass and you can start playing it right away if you pay for a Collector's or Premium Edition, otherwise the Chief will wake up on the Pillar of Autumn tomorrow.

Mistfall Hunter
Thursday, July 30 - PC, PS5, Xbox Series
If you like extraction games and dungeon crawlers, and maybe Dark and Darker isn't doing it for you anymore, allow me to present Mistfall Hunter. This PvPvE ARPG is developed by Bellring Games and published by Skystone Games, founded by the creator of Diablo himself, David Brevik.
The open beta was massively popular, pulling in around 430k players during its open beta and Steam Next Fest, but only time will tell if the playerbase will be kind to this squad-based dark fantasy extraction game over time.
Better with Friends

Turnip Mountain
Thursday, July 30 - PC, PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch
Built by a solo developer by the name of Luke Sanderson, this physics-based climbing game has a simple premise: your two-handed turnip needs to climb! But to do so requires some dexterity, as each of its comically-oversized arms needs independent input.
Offering a "satisfying climbing experience", the game also offers local co-op where each player controls a single arm, which definitely sounds like a recipe for laughter...or argument. Why not both?
It's a simple premise, but it looks fun, and it's out on everything later this week.
Notable Mentions

Rita
Thursday, July 30 - PC
We love to showcase local games where we can and here's one for the wordplay and puzzle lovers. Developed by Melbourne-based SporkTank, Rita is a cozy word game where you play a cute little chicklet, solving crosswords to change the world around them! The developer claims the game is a tribute to their grandmother, and if that doesn't tug on your heartstrings you probably just don't have one.
It's out later this week on PC, and there's a demo out on Steam.

Forsaken Realms: Vahrin's Call
Tuesday, July 28 - PC
Y'know, when I hear comparisons to games like Fable or Two Worlds II, my ears start to perk up. An ode to classic action-RPG, this single-player, narrative-driven game even has a class-less skill system harkening back to The Elder Scrolls series. It's made by a small team of UK-based developers, self-published, and while it kind of shows from the gameplay footage, in this context it might just add to its charm.
It's out fairly soon here on PC, and it might be something I'll have to check out when I have some spare time.
