The Drop: Week of August 10, 2026
This week sees Bethesda finally bring Oblivion to a Nintendo console, EA ship its first game as a private company, and an Adelaide developer give Aussie Rules football a very silly makeover.

Welcome to The Drop, Level Up Times' weekly release calendar where we wade through the coming week in gaming to help you decide what's worth checking out.
After last week's drop saw Game Freak come to the table with something new, this week will see EA's first post-privatisation release with Madden 27 and Bethesda bringing the Oblivion remaster onto a Nintendo system. Also, fancy a game of "footy"? The "Aussie Rules" might be a little different to what you know...
Find a game you like? Hover over any game below and add it to your wishlist (or library if you already own it!) and you'll get notified of any news related to those games. Don't forget to head on over to your Library to manage your game list!

What's Catching our Eye

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
Tuesday, August 11 - Switch 2
Back in June, Bethesda confirmed that a port of Oblivion was coming to the Switch 2, and that time has arrived. This is the first time we've seen the fourth Elder Scrolls title land on a Nintendo console, and it'll arrive in both physical and digital formats, with the full game right on the cart which is great to see as we move further into our all-digital future.
The real question here will be how well can the port run? The studio says it's targeting 900p in handheld mode at 30 frames per second, with a 1080p 30fps performance target in docked mode. Some early reports indicate the game might slip below those targets from time to time, so that's something to keep an eye on if performance is important to you.

Madden NFL 27
Friday, August 14 - PC, Xbox Series, PS5, Switch 2
It's here: EA's first title since going private last week. While Early Access has been around for a few days if you signed up to EA's MVP+ program, and another wave is out tomorrow morning if you purchase the Deluxe or MVP bundles, the game officially hits store shelves on Friday.
We don't usually cover sports games, much less American football as an Aussie outlet; but we're going to keep an eye on this release, and the future of the Madden franchise to see how EA's new shareholders will want to shape it moving forward. After all, the series will be crucial to how EA pays back the almost US$20 billion worth of debt it now carries.
Better with Friends

Pro Jank Footy
Thursday, August 13 - PC, Xbox Series, PS5, Switch and Switch 2
We love showcasing local talent, and this is one we tried out at last year's Indie Showcase at PAX Aus. Developed by Adelaide-based studio Powerbomb Games, this is a comedic, roguelite take on Aussie Rules football (yes, you read that right). Ignore what I said above about not usually covering sports games, when they're this wacky -- and fun -- it's hard not to want to check this out.
It's out on Thursday, and its hilarious concept, a wacky art style, and fun gameplay makes for a great couch-based sports game, but the game does also offer online play.
Notable Mentions

Duskfade
Thursday, August 13 - PC, Xbox Series, PS5, Switch 2
Duskfade is a "clockpunk" 3D action-platformer with a beautiful, stylised art style. I played some of this game's demo over the weekend, and while it's a little rough around the edges, there's potential for this to be a hidden gem. The gameplay and art-style was kind of reminiscent of the old Maximo games, which is probably either going to draw you in or push you well away.
The demo is available right now on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, and the full version will release on Thursday.

Agent 64: Spies Never Die
Tuesday, August 11 - PC
Remember Goldeneye 007? How about Perfect Dark? While certainly classics, today they're probably best remembered for what they did for the FPS genre, rather than how they play today. What if someone was able to bring those classic concepts and reshape them for the modern context? That's exactly what Agent 64 is.
Developed by French studio Replicant D6, Agent 64 is a retro first-person shooter where you take on the role of Secret Agent John Walter, a spy who according to the Steam page for this game must save the world from his arch-nemesis, Dominic Pulp. There's certainly flavour here.
The game features 14 missions which can be played solo or co-op either in split-screen mode or online. The game comes with three difficulty levels which add to the objectives in each of the levels.
What's a retro shooter without some arena-based fighting? Preferably with up to four players on one screen so you can pixel-hunt to find your enemy's head? Replicant D6 has you there. There's a local split-screen multiplayer mode, and you can also play online with up to 8 players and 8 bots in online mode with fully customisable lobbies.
It's out tomorrow on PC and you can get it on Steam.

Mafia: The Old Country – Man of Honor
Friday, August 14 - PC, Xbox Series, PS5
If you enjoyed 2K's take on 1900s-era mafioso Italy, you might be interested to know there's a new expansion coming out at the end of the week. Man of Honor takes you to a Sicilian winter in 1905, and brings two new story chapters, new combat scenarios, stealth missions, car races, contracts, and collectables, in addition to new weapons and vehicles.
