Wargaming releases a new big-team, large-map mode to World of Tanks.
Wargaming, the people behind World of Tanks have released a new big-team strategic mode to the game called “Frontline”, partnering with Austrian developer Bongfish (yes, you read that right) to develop the new content for the title.
Currently on the game’s “Sandbox” test environment, the new mode is, according to Development Director Milos Jerabek, nine times the size of a typical 1km-by-1km World of Tanks map.
The scale of the new mode seems to be beyond anything the tank battle game has previously had. Rather than the traditional 15-on-15 battles, the new mode allows for 30-on-30.
In a new development diary released by the studio (below), Wargaming and Bongfish studio members mentioned that the technology required to be able to create such vast maps and doubling the player count required some new technology, but also more hands to work on the title, leading to the partnership with the Australian development house.
As mentioned previously, Frontline is now in the game’s “Sandbox” test environment, and the studio is looking for players to give their feedback on the new mode and map before they see it off for a final release on the live server.
