Nintendo have announced two Splatoon 2 updates due to arrive before Christmas.
Update 1: 24 November
The first update will come next week on 24 November and include four new battle stages, a new Salmon Run stage named ‘Salmonid Smokeyard’, 140 pieces of new gear, as well as new music, hairstyles, amino functionality, and faster gear-switching.
The level cap will also increase beyond Level 50. The new maximum level will be 99, and players can also effectively prestige beyond that to gain a star next to their new level.
The four new battle stages will be doled out over time, with the first map: MakoMart, launching 25 November, and the other three (named ‘Shellendorf Institute’, ‘Walleye Warehouse’ and ‘Arowana Mall’) will become available over time.
Update 2: Mid-November
In mid-December, a new objective-based mode called ‘Clam Blitz’ will launch. Players will be tasked with collecting clams around a map and throwing them into a basket near the opponent’s base which is protected by a barrier. Collecting 10 clams will earn players ‘Power Clams’ which are used to break the barrier.
